Tiebreaker Rules

To change the tiebreaker system: Go to Settings → Tiebreaker System and select the appropriate rule for your event. The default is Standard RRS (Appendix A8).

In the Results tab, click any race score to cycle through protest states:
⚑ Pending → 🚩 Upheld → ✓ Dismissed → cleared
The protest indicator is visible to all viewers. Syncs across devices automatically.

⏱ Starting Sequence Timer

Click the ⏱ Timer button in the toolbar (admin only). Select your sequence format:
5–4–1–0 (RRS standard) · 3–2–1–0 (short course) · 10–5–4–1–0 (offshore) · 2–1–0 (quick)

Sync to Gun — syncs the countdown to the next whole minute on your device clock, so all devices show the same time simultaneously.
Sound beeps at each signal and at 30s/10s warnings. Toggle sound on/off with the button at the bottom.

📋 Self-Registration

Enable registration in Settings → Registration. Set an optional closing deadline and max competitors.

Share the registration link (e.g. gal.coach/regattas/your-regatta/?register=true) with sailors. They fill in their details and are added to the competitor list automatically.

Duplicate sail numbers and names are rejected automatically. The entry list is visible on the Results tab until the deadline passes, then it switches to full results.

🔗 Sharing Results

Click 🔗 Share to open the share menu. Options:
💬 WhatsApp — sends the results link directly to any WhatsApp contact or group
💬 iMessage/SMS — opens Messages with the link pre-filled
✉️ Email — opens your email client with subject and body pre-filled
📋 Copy Link — copies the URL to clipboard for pasting anywhere

The results page is public — anyone with the link can view results without logging in.

📅 Multi-Event — Series & Fleet Management

A single regatta page can host up to 10 independent events — for example consecutive days of a series, different fleets, or coaches sessions (A, B, C). Each event has its own name, date, boat class, competitors, races, and scores, all stored under the same URL.

Adding an event (admin only)
Go to the 📅 Events tab. Click + Add Event. Enter a name (required), date, boat class, and number of races. Choose either:

• Copy fleet from an existing event — duplicates the competitor list with scores cleared
• Start fresh — empty competitor list

Click Create Event. The page switches immediately to the new event. Up to 10 events per regatta.

Switching between events
Admins switch events from the 📅 Events tab by clicking any event card. The public switches events using the pill switcher that appears above the results table when more than one visible event exists. Switching is instant — no page reload.

Hiding and showing events
Each event card in the 📅 Events tab has a 👁 Hide from public / 👁 Show to public toggle. Hidden events remain fully editable by the admin but are invisible to the public — they do not appear in the public pill switcher or results view. Use this to prepare an event before publishing it. A Hidden badge appears on the card so the admin always knows the current state.

Active event indicator
When more than one event exists, the hero area shows which event is currently displayed — for example 📅 Event 2 of 3 — Summer Series Race 2.

📌 Notice Board

The Notice Board lets the Race Committee post official notices directly to competitors — NOR, Sailing Instructions, amendments, and general updates.

Posting a notice (admin only):
Go to the Notice Board tab. Select a type (NOR, SI, Notice to Competitors, General), enter a title, then either upload a PDF/TXT file or type free text. Check Push to competitor email list to automatically email all competitors with a registered email address. Click Post Notice.

Editing or deleting a notice:
Posted notices appear in the Posted Notices section. Click Edit to update the notice text inline, then Save. Click Delete to permanently remove a notice.

Public Notice Board:
Competitors access the public notice board via the 📌 Notice Board link at the top of the results page. No login required. Notices appear in real time after posting.

Email delivery:
Emails are sent automatically via gal.coach to all competitors who registered with an email address. The Reply-To is set to the RC's email so competitors can reply directly. Emails are sent once — editing a notice after posting does not re-send.

🎙️ AI Voice Notes

The AI Voice Notes feature lets the RC officer dictate race observations hands-free while simultaneously tapping the finish order — two tasks at once, one screen.

How to record a note:
Open the Finish Line tap screen (Enter Race by Tapping). A 🎙️ mic button appears at the bottom-left. Tap it to start recording. Speak naturally — record protests, wind conditions, incidents, or any observation. The live transcript appears in real time with a running timer.

Controls while recording:
⏸ Pause — pause the recording without discarding it.
✦ Save to Docs — stops recording, sends transcript for AI cleanup, and saves the note.
✕ Discard — deletes the recording without saving.

AI cleanup:
When you save, the raw transcript is automatically cleaned — filler words removed, light punctuation added. All specific details are preserved exactly as spoken: sail numbers, names, times, penalties, bearings, and distances. Nothing is added or interpreted.

Viewing and managing notes:
Saved notes appear in the 🎙️ AI Notes tab. Each note shows the real clock time it was captured, the race it belongs to, and any sail numbers or competitor names detected as tags. Use Edit to correct the text, Copy to copy to clipboard, or Delete to remove.

Timestamps:
Every note is stamped with the real clock time at capture — not a relative time. This enables cross-referencing with video footage frame by frame, and provides accurate protest documentation (e.g. "14:23 — contact at windward mark").
